April 25: Inks

Journal prompt: Before the ink is dry.

I started with a soft teal color acrylic over gesso on my page.  I like to use gesso when I am working with inks.

I have learned the hard way that I need to put cover under the page to catch the over-spray. I used freezer paper that I had on hand and I still managed to get it all over my hands.  I sprayed the inks into the stencil in an all over pattern covering both pages creating a patterned paper.

The circles were made by a TCW 12 x 12 stencil with white paint. The lovely bonus is that the white paint is going to pick up the ink color and you get a soft pastel color.

Rae Missigman's stamps are the next step. I stamped the leafy feather onto book paper using three inks in a variegated style. Fussy cut those out. Then I stamped the mark stamp in black. Next came out the stabilo pencil and water brush to accent some of the circles, marks were made in pencil and white pen.

I signed my name in black pen on printer paper and fussy cut it out.  I drew the x and line that you find for signatures on legal documents and placed my name on that line. Must be thinking about the BA-zillion documents I recently signed for a financial transaction. None of them looked creative or fun like this was!

What will you be putting your ink on??
