Art Challenge: Focal Point vs. Layering
Journal Prompt:  Time keeps on ticking

Your challenge is to create  a focal point on your piece this week. Add layering as you choose.

I wanted a soft and vintage looking background for this page. I pulled out my 3x5 Gelli Plate and a goldenrod, camel and white paint.

Next it was time for my focal point... and the story.

I have been ill lately. My sole activity was to get from the bed to my favorite chair in front of the TV. After a marathon of Say Yes to the Dress (about brides choosing their wedding gown) I had flower and sequin embellishments seared into my brain. I thought it was appropriate to document my week by being inspired by these wedding gowns.

I grabbed a hand carved stamp and stamped the image on the pages from a very old Miss Manners book. I sketched leaves and cut both out.

I grabbed some vintage colored sequins (aren't these cool?) and mini glue dots. I added a sequin on the center of each flower.

I added a branch with oil pastels. I punched circles of the same book text to represent the petals that are floating down from the branch and collecting along the ground.

In keeping with the ephemera theme, I used tickets to spell out "Focus".

And with that I am calling it done.
