Masking a mask

November Theme: Stencils, Stamps & Masks
Nov. 21 - Use a mask

Prompt: Mask-erade

First I want to share a random memory. Have you ever seen Phantom of the Opera - the broadway show? It was my first show I had seen ON Broadway. I remember we had seats pretty far up in the balcony but when the song "Masquerade" was sung and the swirling color of the costumes of the masquerade ball came into view, I had goosebumps. That was over 25 years ago and I remember it so clearly.

Okay, now back to the challenge-

I decided to use circles as my super simple homemade mask.  You can buy masks but you can also simply create them at home with a pencil, cardstock and a scissors. My ink pad was about the size that I wanted my circle to be so I traced it onto cheap cardstock that I use in my printer.

I cut 5 of these.

I added a quick background color in a yellow-green swiped on with a hotel card. Then placed the masks down with a repositionable adhesive.

Super simple. I started adding colors both with a brush and a hotel card until I got a swirl of colors.

I removed the masks and then grabbed my doodle pens and Stabilo pencil and went to town.

I am calling it done while I hum the score of Phantom of the Opera in my head.
