FAQ

1. How do I set up my Mijello palette?

If you are new to watercolor palettes here are a few tips:

- You will want to squeeze your watercolors (from the tube) into the wells of the palette that comes with your set. Make sure your paint touches the sides of the wells so the paint is adhered to the sides and bottom of the well. Don’t put “balls” of paint into the palette - if you drop your palette, all the little balls will fall out of the wells and putting that mess back together is a pain. Yep, it happened to me when I was a beginner! Note our palettes in the videos - pools of paint not gum balls.

- Leave your paint palette open to dry for 2-3 days. When you can lightly touch the paint without the paint sticking to your fingers, it is dry. Now you can close it in between uses.

- Swatch your palette onto the palette swatch card (it is one of the blue buttons in the classroom called Set Up Your Palette (or use this link https://sandi-keene.squarespace.com/colorlogue-palette-set-up ) so you have a guide to your colors.

- The order of the colors is available at https://sandi-keene.squarespace.com/colorlogue-palette-set-up

2. I can't find Neutral Tint - It is sold out on Amazon! Help!

You have options-

- We like this brand too https://amzn.to/3dYLt4R

- You won’t need neutral tint until the later modules in the class - you have some time for Amazon to restock.

- You can buy another brand like Daniel Smith https://amzn.to/3eJHbxx or M. Graham https://amzn.to/3aMLnLy (we have not used these personally but they should be similar)

- Try your local art store

- Use the Ivory Black in your palette.

3. Do I have to buy Rae’s stencils?

- Rae's stencils make the class easier but you are free to draw the squares etc yourself or even freehand swatch with no guidelines. It is up to you! If you are only going to buy one stencil, buy this one https://www.stencilgirlproducts.com/stencil-Custom-Color-Swatch-Rae-Missigman-p/s840.htm

4. I have my own watercolors. Is that ok?

Yes! Use what you have. If you prefer a different brand use that! This course is about YOUR colors, YOUR style. The same goes for your favorite brushes and watercolor paper.

5. Should I print the workbook?

This is definitely your decision. We will say that it is BEAUTIFUL when you are done and you are going to be so proud of it. We DO understand that it is a LOT of printing. We printed the workbook multiple times so we get it. Your choice.
